    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Operations Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing branch operations and ensuring that day-to-day branch activities are functioning at optimal levels. They will provide strong operational support to the Branch Manager.

    The Operations Manager will oversee the efficient use of resources, including vehicles and staff, to meet customer delivery expectations. They will also be responsible for monitoring compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and industry regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure all loaded vehicles are dispatched on time for delivery as planned day before.
    • Follow up on allocated linehaul arrival times and report delays to Management and linehaul control.
    • Pull, analyse and resolve Floor Reports daily.
    • Check Floor Reports for aging stock and ensure FIFO is applied.
    • Plan daily headcounts for Ops requirements based on volumes.
    • Conduct regular Floor Walks with Supervisors/Checkers to ensure optimum housekeeping.
    • Communicate with Clients on delivery queries & inquiries.
    • Monitor Booking dates of Supply Chain Clients/ Delivery Booking for Express.
    • Create loading plans and communicate them to the OPS team and loading team for execution.
    • Ensure smooth handover process between day- & nightshift teams.
    • Communicate with Stores on delivery delays.
    • Report and investigate discrepancies such as shortages & damages on delivery & from linehaul vehicles.
    • Take Staff statements of incidents.
    • Maintain Health and Safety in your area of work.
    • Monitor compliance of supervisors to meet deadlines for deliveries/ collections.
    • Ensure high standard of Service delivery (Undelivered Report).
    • General Management of company assets – walls & wheels (In consult with Transport Manager).
    • Apply discipline in the branch & maintain discipline at all times.
    • Maintain high standard of housekeeping.
    • Inform & update staff on new clients & requirements.
    • Report any issues to management.
    • Ensure all stock takes are communicated & dates are adhered to.
    • Resolve debriefing issues & pods timeously.
    • Meet Targets.
    • Maintain Branch fleet to satisfactory level and report vehicle problems immediately to the Transport Manager and Branch Manager.
    • Submit reports on time.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12/Matric.
    • Degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operations management or similar role.
    • Valid Driver's license.
    • Own Transport essential.
    • Proven ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
    • Strong understanding of operational procedures.
    • Proficient in using warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to analyse data and generate reports.
    • Familiarity with company policies, safety protocols, and industry regulations.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to coordinate with different departments and branches effectively.
    • Capability to conduct regular inspections and perform safety audits.
    • Experience in training and developing team members.
    • Skilled in streamlining processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
