    Description

    Job Summary: Mineral Commodities Inspector

    Inspect and report on mineral commodities, ensuring quality, efficiency, and confidentiality of service, while maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Maintain quality, efficiency, and confidentiality of service
    • Liaise with Commodity Coordinator and other branches/divisions
    • Establish, direct, and review systems for application, recording, certification, filing, sample storage, and field auditing
    • Communicate with clients and laboratory to achieve required turn-around time for submitted samples
    • Compile spreadsheets of results, update daily, and report to clients
    • Assist Commodity Coordinator and liaise with clients
    • Carry out or supervise submittal of samples with sample submission form
    • Ensure compliance with all requirements of the inspection order
    • Keep direct superior informed regarding progress and/or non-conformance
    • Liaise with local clients regarding pertinent details and information related to operations
    • Assist in continuously upgrading the quality of services offered
    • Check inspector's claim forms in context with work executed
    • Perform general office duties and adhere to quality and safety requirements

    Specific Authorities

    • Cease use of equipment deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environment without necessary knowledge and protection
    • Cease work that may affect quality (integrity) of services and report situations to higher authority
    • Initiate formal improvement request when deviation of system occurs or nonconformity is identified

    Qualifications

    • Minimum Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook

    Experience

    • Minimum of 1-2 years of trade-related experience or similar
    • Proficiency in English (read, speak, write)
    • Typing skills

    Competencies

    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Ability to problem-solve
    • Calculation capability to ensure accurate scoring of client results
