Description

KRF is looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, dedicated and passionate camp manager with excellent guiding skills and experience to join our small team.

The role is responsible for managing the camp (mostly self-catering accommodation), ensuring adherence to research protocols, coordinate projects across several research sites, field support, monitoring and specialist guiding (Kaingo has extensive rock art, fauna and flora diversity).


Requirements:


  • A minimum of 5 years in a guiding role within a Big5 reserve environment (ESSENTIAL)
  • Camp management experience
  • An inherent passion for observing, sharing and learning about fauna and flora, environment
  • Stable work history with excellent references
  • Good administration and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and time
  • Guest/visitorcentric and strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to simultaneously coordinate a wide range of activities.
  • Should be sober of habit, preferably nonsmoker


  • Bilingual

  • English and Afrikaans. Other languages a plus.
  • South African Citizen

To be considered you must have the follow:

  • In depth knowledge of savannah bushveld and the Waterberg (Preferable)
  • A FGASA level 2 qualification or higher
  • Registered with DEAT and THETA
  • Trails guide certificate (Advantage)
  • Valid first aid and Advance Rifle Handling certificate
  • A valid South African Code 8 Driver's license and PDP

Position is ideal for a single person.

The reserve follows a no pet policy.
