Group Accountant

Golf is one of the few sectors that has shown an extensive growth in leisure and retail in the past 2 years.

We are looking for highly self-motivated and goal driven individuals to join our finance team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct and coordinate the completion of the monthly quick profit estimates and management accounts within prescribed deadlines.
• Review and follow up on issues identified within balance sheet and income statement and recons performed by members of the finance department team, to ensure that these are produced in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Review reconciliations and authorize payments made to creditors
• Oversee daily operations of the finance department and provide assistance on operational and accounting issues to staff members.
• Take ownership of processing of some of the more complex journal entries and reconciliations
• Assisting with preparation of budgets.
• Daily reports on critical areas of the business
• Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures
• Assisting auditors with reconciliation and supporting documentation regarding divisional entities
• Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of Pastel is critical.
• Advanced Excel skills is critical, with a willingness to learn very quickly in this area.
• Ability to solve problems is critical.
• Ability to multitask is critical.
• Ability to take ownership, provide direction and make decisions is critical.
• Knowledge of fundamental finance, accounting and cost control principles with a solid bookkeeping background is critical.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting.
• Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several tasks. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
• Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

Salary:
R28, R40,000.00 per month
