Description
Duties/Pligte
- Managing the booking system of departmental equipment to ensure that all equipment, such as cameras, etc., are received and returned in good order- Managing the booking system of the sound studios to ensure students receive equal opportunities and access to it;- Keeping track of specialist lectures in the BAHons Journalism programme in terms of dates and logístical requirements;- Ensuring that students have access to all learning material as provided by specialist lecturers;- Setting up schedules for parking, accommodation, and travel of specialist lecturers and guest speakers;- Ensuring that specialist lecturers submit their invoices in a timely manner;- Following up on the submission of grades and feedback by specialist lecturers - in conjunction with the course convener;- Keeping students abreast of unavoidable changes to class schedules and other important notices;- Organising the details for student field trips and tours;- Organising, confirming and communicating with internship placement mentors;- Assisting with administrative and logístical arrangements during seminars, conferences and workshops;- Receiving visitors to the Department and handling general enquiries;
- Assisting with ad hoc administrative tasks as required by the departmental chair.
- Hanteer die besprekingstelsel van departementele toerusting om te verseker dat alle toerusting, soos kameras ens., in goeie toestand uitgeleen en terugbesorg word;- Hanteer die besprekingstelsel van opname-ateljees om te verseker dat studente gelyke geleentheid ontvang om daarvan gebruik te maak;-
- Koördineer besoeke van spesialisdosente in die HonsBA-program in Joernalistiek en hanteer die logistieke aspekte daarvan;-
- Verseker dat studente toegang het tot alle voorbereidende materiaal soos voorgeskryf deur spesialisdosente;-
- Stel skedules op vir reis-, verblyf
- en parkeringsreëlings vir besoekende dosente en gassprekers;-
- Verseker dat spesialisdosente hul fakture betyds inhandig;-
- Volg op met spesialisdosente, in samewerking met die kursussameroeper, sodat hul punte en terugvoer betyds ingehandig word;-
- Hou studente op hoogte van enige veranderinge in lesingskedules en ander belangrike kennisgewings;-
- Tref reëlings vir studente-veldwerk en toere;-
- Reël, bevestig en kommunikeer besonderhede van internskappe met internskap-mentors;-
- Verleen administratiewe en logistieke ondersteuning gedurende seminare, konferensies en werkswinels;-
- Ontvang besoekers aan die Departement en hanteer algemene navrae;- Verrig ad hoc-administratiewe take soos deur die departementele voorsitter benodig word.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- A relevant tertiary qualification;- Three to five years' experience of administrative work;- Competencies required:
- Excellent administrative skills;- The ability to work under time pressure;- Attention to detail;- The ability to plan ahead;
- The ability to balance various tasks and projects.'n Toepaslike tersiêre kwalifikasie;-

Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Previous experience of working in a university environment will be a strong recommendation.
- Werkservaring in 'n universiteitsomgewing sal 'n sterk aanbeveling wees.
