    Job Description:

    To conduct mechanical maintenance and repairs on plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, reporting to the Maintenance Specialist.

    Responsibilities:

    • Schedule Preventative Maintenance:
      • Plan and execute maintenance before it expires
      • Inspect tools and determine spares and consumables requirements
      • Generate Job Requisitions for scheduled maintenance work
      • Transport tools, equipment and spares to the work site
      • Make the work area safe by isolating equipment, performing lockouts and completing the LOTO register
    • Breakdowns:
      • Attend to machine breakdowns of a mechanical nature
      • Update responsible personnel on progress of repairs
      • Escalate problems/breakdowns if they cannot be resolved
    • Mechanical Maintenance:
      • Perform routine maintenance, align machines and diagnose faults
      • Repair equipment and machinery during production/operation
      • Commission and refurbish machines/equipment
      • Operate drilling, lathe, milling, surface grinding machines and EDM
      • Bid basic and MIG/TIG welding of metals
      • Grind tools and drill bits
      • Maintain mechanical equipment
    • Fabrication:
      • Cut, drill, punch and assemble fabrication materials using powered machinery
      • Cut materials using the oxy-fuel gas cutting process
      • Join metals using the resistance welding process
      • Weld workpiece using various processes
      • Remove metals using oxy-fuel and air-carbon arc gouging processes
    • Instrumentation Maintenance:
      • Construct Basic Electronic Circuits
      • Install Instrument impulse lines
      • Maintain instrumentation equipment
      • Carry out soldering and de-soldering procedures
    • Post-Maintenance:
      • Test and commission machinery or equipment prior to handover
      • Complete Planned Maintenance Schedule-Maintenance Connection
      • Identify other work required and communicate with Planner/Buyer
    • Material Handling:
      • Handle sling loads, operate cranes/hoists and forklifts
    • Engineering Projects:
      • Contribute to project initiation and scope definition
      • Estimate and prepare cost budget for projects/subprojects
      • Schedule project activities for effective execution
      • Monitor, evaluate and communicate project schedules
