    Job Summary

    A trade-tested certified artisan or National Diploma holder in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is required to conduct maintenance of injection moulding and extrusion machinery in an automotive or FMCG electrical manufacturing environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Planned Preventative Maintenance: Conduct PPM on all equipment to minimise downtime, ensuring continuous production.
    • Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
    • Breakdown Response: Respond promptly to breakdowns, working efficiently to restore production with minimal disruption.
    • Standby Duty: Be available for standby duty on a rotational basis, responding to urgent maintenance issues outside of normal working hours.
    • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct RCA and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and prevent recurring faults.
    • Machinery Installation: Support the installation, commissioning, and modification of new and existing machinery.
    • Process Optimisation: Work closely with production teams to optimise processes and improve OEE.
    • Safety Compliance: Ensure maintenance work complies with local safety regulations (OHSA, SANS, and ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standards).
    • Maintenance Records: Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS.
    • Talent Development: Train and mentor junior maintenance staff and production operators on basic machine maintenance.

    Core Competencies:

    • Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and automation systems.
    • Interpretation Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and mechanical blueprints.
    • Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
    • Programming Concepts: Knowledge of PLC and robotic programming concepts.
    • Additional Requirements: Willingness to work shifts and be on standby when required.

    Desirable Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, with experience in PLC troubleshooting.
