    Senior Operations Manager

    Vuka Group is seeking a seasoned Senior Operations Manager to lead the delivery of medium-to-large-scale events across Africa. If you're an expert in event operations, budget management, and supplier coordination with the ability to thrive under pressure, this is your chance to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.

    • Event Operations & Delivery: Oversee all aspects of event planning, from conception to execution, across multiple portfolios.
    • Budget & Forecasting: Manage event budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and financial tracking.
    • Supplier & Venue Management: Source, negotiate, and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring seamless event execution.
    • Team Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, production, and finance teams to align on event goals.
    • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all events meet safety regulations, compiling risk assessments and health & safety documentation.
    • Exhibitor & Sponsorship Fulfillment: Ensure the successful delivery of exhibitor and sponsor commitments, including branding and digital components.
    • Technology & Digital Events: Support virtual event setup, event app management, and meeting scheduling.
    • Floor Plans & Signage: Oversee the design and execution of event floor plans, signage, and show guides.
    • Onsite & Post-Event Management: Provide on-the-ground support and conduct post-show evaluations for future improvements.

    People Management:

    • Manage and Mentor Junior Team Members: Develop and guide junior operations team members to achieve their full potential.
    • Leadership, Coaching, and Performance Evaluations: Provide leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations to ensure individual growth and development.
    • Culture of Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Proven Experience: Proven experience in international conference and exhibition operations, with a strong understanding of event logistics and management.
    • Budgeting and Forecasting Skills: Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting skills to manage event budgets effectively.
    • Negotiation and Contract Knowledge: Skilled negotiator with extensive knowledge of supplier and venue contracts.
    • Health & Safety Expertise: Experienced in onsite Health & Safety compliance, with a strong understanding of safety regulations.
    • Communication and Organizational Abilities: Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Tech-Savviness: Tech-savvy and experienced in online event platforms and scheduling tools.
    • Flexibility: Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, when necessary.
