Minimum requirements:


  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • At least two years' relevant experience, with some higher education experience (e.g. executive assistant or project administrator) and/or externallyfunded grant management experience.
  • Good computer skills, with experience setting up online meetings and managing ediaries
  • Knowledge and understanding of the higher education sector is required

Added advantages:


  • An Honours degree would be an added advantage.
  • Accreditation as a Research Administrator Professional (RAP) by the International Professional Recognition Council (IPRC) would be an added advantage.

Duties amongst others include:


  • Responsible for general administration of the IDORI, and frontofhouse reception.
  • Deal with researcher/stakeholder queries on IDORI matters.
  • Responsible for ediary scheduling for IDORI staff/projects.
  • Assist with coordinating standing or ad hoc meetings/events of the Institute, as required. This may include minutetaking.
  • Arranging travel, accommodation, campus access for staff or visiting researchers; arranging timeous planning/payments as needed.
  • Provide Wits Health Consortium (WHC) with necessary financial documentation (e.g. providing receipts for staff/stakeholder reimbursements, copies of invoices or delivery notes, etc)
  • Assist with collating publication lists and NRF rating documentation
  • Perform other tasks or activities which fall within the general functioning of the Institute as determined by the Manager and/or Director of the Institute to further the aims of the Centre.

Key Competencies:


  • Strong interpersonal skills and good communication skills, to work across varied stakeholders (e.g. postgrad students, postdoc fellows, earlycareer to established researchers, government, industry partners, funders/donors, etc).
  • Highlevel computer literacy skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
