PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT
The role of the Communications Department is to provide strategic and operational leadership to Islamic Relief South Africa. The Department has a key role in managing and maintaining the reputation of IRSA.

There is a focus on all internal and external communications and reputation management both on an individual level and within the humanitarian and development community.


The department also works in partnership with Islamic Relief South Africa departments to provide communications expertise ensuring that high quality information, material and resources is delivered and sustained to support and promote our work on advocacy, and raising awareness of the significant activities and achievements of our fundraising work.


The department liaises with key stakeholders to ensure IRSA campaigns and products are effectively promoted to its targeted audiences through integrated and creative marketing and fundraising techniques.

The department seeks to raise awareness, funds and understanding of IRSA, grow influence, drive action and ultimately bring key audiences closer to our purpose.


PURPOSE OF POSITION


The Marketing coordinator has strategic and operational responsibility for all aspects of marketing and brand management for Islamic Relief South Africa.

The Marketing coordinator will have overall responsibility for the quality, consistency and strategic direction of IRSA Marketing activities. This will involve the delivery of cross-channel, high profile impactful marketing campaigns that drive action and engagement with IRSA.


This role will understand emerging trends in marketing, and work to understand how these innovations can be applied to the organization's context.


KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Daily engagement with Head of the Communications department.
  • Daily engagement with the Marketing Team (Web Master, Direct Marketing Officer, Social Media officer as well as Communications Support officer.
  • Daily engagement with the Content Creation Team Coordinator.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE

  • Lead the development and implementation of the marketing strategy with plans and activities to raise brand awareness including the adoption of IRSA's brand and values across the organization and to deliver impactful fundraising and advocacy campaigns.
  • Provide effective leadership and build strong working relationships with the Marketing team to ensure integrated marketing plans are developed and implemented to achieve maximum impact with external audiences.
  • Play a key role with the HOD and the Content Creation Team coordinator to implement plans to raise awareness of the organization's activities and their impact.
  • Provide effective leadership for team members delivering marketing activities, ensure digital marketing and branding plans are in place and act as an inspiring role model at all times.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The following are the main responsibilities that the role holder will be accountable for:

Developing and implementing the Marketing strategy, related plans and brand management to ensure campaigns achieve maximum impact

  • Identifies and prioritizes the marketing needs within IRSA in line with strategic priorities and campaigns.
  • Lead the development and delivery of the marketing strategy to raise IRSA's profile, funds and improve understanding of our work with key external audiences including potential beneficiaries, donors, supporters and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement supporter journeys across direct marketing channels.
  • Assist in the development and annual review of IRSA's marketing strategy to ensure it is fit for purpose to support IRSA in its work.
  • Develop and implement plans to provide advice, support and resource materials to assist stakeholders in the marketing and positioning of their activities.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to plan content for all major campaigns and areas of work.
  • Ensure that strategies, campaigns and activities across all departments optimize the way IRSA is viewed by the public and external stakeholders, and ensuring that our purpose and impact is relevant and understood across all owned, earned and paid channels.
  • Work collaboratively with HOD and Content Creation Coordinator to maximize our brand's ability to enable positive emotional connections with our audiences in a way that drives long

  • Provide strategic input to crossorganizational projects and seek to identify steps to accelerate progress and maximize the impact of IRSA's campaigns activities.
