- REPORTING TO THE MANAGING DIRECTOR
- JOB PURPOSE:
- To lead the factory operations within budget and output targets to meet customer and operational requirements and standards. Full accountability for ensuring safety, customer quality, cost and delivery requirements are met.
- JOB FUNCTION:
- Manage production outputs to meet deadlines and quality requirements according to specifications
- All daytoday activities for area of responsibility are planned, organized, controlled
- Monitor equipment and ensure that they are in good working order at all times
- Control operational and manufacturing costs according to annual budget forecast
- Align Capex expenditure to strategy and operational requirements
- Inventory levels are monitored / maintained and WIP is maintained at the minimum levels
- Measures are put in place to reduce scrap and reclaim levels according to requirement, customer incidents are investigated, monitored and reported on weekly, innovations are raised on monthly basis and implemented as required All administrative requirements are managed and maintained in accordance with company requirements
- Manpower allocations are planned to ensure targets are reached, staff performance is monitored, evaluated and Company HR and Disciplinary policies are adhered to
- On the job training of staff to promote continuous improvement, training records of all Production staff are maintained at all times, departmental and staff objectives are established monthly to satisfy company goals / plans 16.2 tasks are performed for area of responsibility and compliance with relevant legal and statutory requirements including OHSA is adhered to
- Potential safety risks are identified, eliminated and health and safety of employees is monitored and addressed continually
- Safety and quality incidents raised are addressed and closed off within the time specified and nearmiss incidents are maintained
- Good housekeeping and an effective workplace is maintained at all times and 5S programme is implemented and maintained
- Monthly stock takes are planned, managed, executed and stock of raw materials / consumables is planned and managed
- Overtime is monitored and reduced, all operational and manufacturing costs are controlled according to annual budget forecast, operational budget is managed and reported on monthly
Inherent Requirements - QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:
- Production Management/Engineering Diploma
- At least 10 years relevant operational experience in a similar industry of which 5 years management experience
- Displays advanced understanding of the company's products and pricing in relation to job output, understands world-class production methods and principles (e.g. lean manufacturing)
- Has the knowledge of the relevant legislation and the codes of good practice (e.g. labour legislation, OHSA, ISO standards, etc.).
- Good communication skills, the ability to build a successful team, customer focused, can set performance goals, track performance, quality orientated and creates safety awareness
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and JDE would be advantageous
