    Actuarial Manager

    Vitality offers the ideal platform for actuaries to grow, own responsibilities, and challenge themselves. The successful candidate will join the Vitality Risk and Analytics team.

    Key Purpose

    The candidate will analyse and model the Vitality programme to answer business questions, inform strategy, and ensure financial stability. They will apply actuarial and behavioural science principles to understand member journeys from lead generation to ongoing engagement.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop actuarial or statistical models for strategic decision-making
    • Short- and long-term projections (pricing and testing of new initiatives)
    • Extract and analyse large datasets for rich insights and communicate results to stakeholders
    • Identify key business and data trends, assess impact, and propose mitigation/capitalization courses of action
    • Conduct ad-hoc investigations and analyses, working with executive decision-makers to craft and execute strategic projects
    • Compile reports and presentations for various committees and executives
    • Develop key relationships with stakeholders to support organisational aims
    • Mentor junior analysts
    • Analyse and communicate complex data findings effectively
    • Deliver results with a sense of urgency
    • Prioritise deliverables and manage stakeholder expectations
    • Disaggregate issues and problem-solve well
    • Adapt to change and respond effectively
    • Deal with unstructured problems and complex environments
    • Possess excellent attention to detail and writing/reporting skills
    • Have good people skills and situational awareness
    • Cope with business pressures and setbacks
    • Think commercially and with a growth mindset

    Education and Experience

    • Matric with Higher Grade Mathematics
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Data Science (Honours advantageous)
    • Academically qualified (all formal actuarial examinations completed)
    • 2-5 years' work-related experience
    • Data Science skills advantageous
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SQL
    • Advanced experience in Actuarial Modelling, Problem Solving, Data Analysis
