    About the Role

    Enable the organization to protect its funding and investments by proactively managing risk limits, providing a comprehensive overview of portfolio risks, and balancing risk levels to achieve strategic objectives.

    • Provide risk reporting for the Board and Exco through detailed analysis of product and overall portfolio risks, identifying trends, and running sensitivities for concentrations and deviations.
    • Process credit proposals, compile Credit Submission Reports, and disseminate them to Credit Committees as part of funding applications.
    • Evaluate assessments by thoroughly testing base case assumptions provided by clients or client-facing teams, ensuring independent attestation on business cases.
    • Address issues within the credit management cycle, including annual reviews, risk grade updates, and proactive assistance to clients ahead of distress, improving portfolio credit quality and avoiding concentrations.

    Qualifications

    • Postgraduate qualification in CA/ B Com (or equivalent degree).
    • MBA would be an added advantage.

    Skills and Knowledge

    • 8-10 years of relevant experience in financial institutions, with a number of years in risk management.
    • Knowledge of credit and investment risk, as well as associated risks prevalent in financing transactions.
    • Excellent writing and presentation skills, particularly for committees.
    • Understanding of portfolio risk management life cycle and measurement of risk tolerance.
    • Experience working in high-level collaborative environments.
    • Ability to work with data to derive meaning and identify trends.
    • Organizational and persistent skills, with drive and determination to achieve goals.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, handling complex tasks simultaneously.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide independent credit investment assessments to approval committees, exercising credit judgment, and making sound credit recommendations within Service Level Agreement guidelines.
    • Assist in enhancing Financial Institutions policies, systems, and procedures, and management processes.
    • Prepare and position submissions at sanctioning committees, responding to questions.
    • Support, guide, and provide a consistent approach to Financial Institutions credit and investment principles across the full credit cycle.
    • Conduct independent evaluations of annual credit reviews, ensuring alignment with policy requirements.
    • Assist Origination Managers in documenting key credit conditions in facility agreements before draw-down.
    • Support submitting annual review reports and undertaking monthly/quarterly portfolio reporting to relevant committees.
    • Assist in formulating, reviewing, and managing FI limits/exposure in alignment with the organization's Africa and Channel Partner strategy, Risk Appetite, and emerging risks.
    • Implement processes reviewed to attain best international practices.
    • Implement approved methods to mitigate capital allocated for FI exposure.
    • Work collaboratively with divisions and assist in developing differentiated solutions meeting business and risk requirements.
    • Produce trend analysis reports, such as impairment and sector risk reviews, and run sensitivities for concentrations and deviations.
    • Perform ongoing credit monitoring and risk management at a portfolio level, recommending strategies to keep portfolio risks within acceptable levels.
    • Understand macro-economic factors impacting the portfolio and provide risk appetite recommendations.
