What we expect
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and dynamic consultant to strengthen our South African-based team. In particular,
we expect

  • 3+ years of experience in banking and financial services (as industry practitioner or management consultant)
  • Strong understanding of prudential requirements for banks (and insurers, to some extent)
  • Postgraduate Risk, Finance or Quantitative qualification, supplemented with professional qualifications (e.g. CFA,
sustainability such as the GARP SCR certificate would be preferred

  • Consulting / professional services background preferable
  • ESG experience from projects or initiatives related to (preferably gained at leading financial institutions):
  • Integration of ESG in strategy and bank steering
  • Climate Risk Stress Testing and ICAAP integration
  • Calculation of emissions (PCAF)
  • Development of Decarbonization targets (SBTi / PACTA)
  • Preparation of regulatory disclosure and reporting (TCFD reports, Sustainability reports)
  • Ideally, knowledge of current regulatory requirements relating to ESG (in particular ECB Guide on Climate and
Environmental Risk, SA (EU)-Taxonomy, NFRD/CSRD, EBA guideline on Pillar 3 reporting) as well as other frameworks
(TCFD, Sustainable Bond Principles)

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to effectively and credibly communicate with senior and nontechnical
stakeholders in formal settings

  • Experience with the delivery of highpriority projects and activities under pressurized conditions
  • Experience with leading more junior team members with the execution of project tasks
  • Creative and lateral thinking as well as an intellectually curious mind
  • Ability to structure complex tasks in a goaloriented way and deliver innovative solutions under tight timelines
  • A keen interest in supporting business development and contributing to the commercial success of our firm
  • Commercial mindset and ability to develop and grow personal client relationships and networks
  • Ability to participate and contribute to marketing efforts, relationship management and commercial
proposals
