Job Overview:


We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Consultant to join our team to provide expertise in IAS 19 valuations, Non-life pricing and reserving, and IFRS17.

The Actuarial Consultant will be responsible for providing high-quality consultancy services to our clients, ensuring that they receive accurate and timely advice on actuarial matters.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conduct reviews of IAS 19 valuations, IFRS 17 policy papers, and actuarial models (GMM, PAA, VFA) to identify potential issues and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Carry out IAS 19 valuations, nonlife valuations, ensuring that all work is completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Advise clients on actuarial issues, providing expert guidance and support on matters such as risk management, insurance pricing, and product development.
  • Communicate complex actuarial concepts to clients in a clear and concise manner, ensuring that they understand the implications of their decisions.
  • Work closely with other consultants and team members to ensure that all client deliverables are completed to a high standard.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, identifying opportunities for new business and providing exceptional customer service.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
  • Membership in an accredited professional body such as the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) or the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
  • At least 3 years of experience working in an actuarial consultancy role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and identify key insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to nonactuarial stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, and as part of a team.
