Our client, a leader in the private healthcare industry, is urgently looking for a
Registered Nurse (RN) / Professional Nurse (PN) to work as a
Hospital Unit Manager in Obstetrics.

This is an opportunity to work a
3 month contract at a private hospital in
Milnerton in
Cape Town.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse
  • A qualification in Midwifery is required
  • A qualification in Nursing management will be advantageous
  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a Professional Nurse within a Labour/Obstetric unit
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a leadership role within a hospital
  • Clinical risk management knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of nursing functions and relevant nursing legislation
  • Patient complaints management skills
  • Prior knowledge of human resources processes, including employee relations and financial management.
  • Experience in managing staff productivity and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Upholds high ethical, confidentiality and professional standards

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensure safe patient care by meeting set clinical quality standards according to company policies and procedures
  • Manage and mitigate clinical risks in the unit
  • Lead and manage the staff in the unit
  • Manage the unit's operational and capital expenses according to financial and budget guidelines and ensure optimal utilisation of resources
  • Manage and actively contribute to a positive patient experience in the hospital
  • Support the achievement of interdepartmental outcomes
  • Manage key stakeholder relations
