BUYER (FMCG)

Paarden Island

Leading Food Production company is looking for a buyer to determine purchasing requirements (finished goods, raw materials, and packaging materials), and executing purchase orders, necessary for the Company to meet its commercial, production and stockholding targets


Responsibilities:


  • Determine timephased purchasing requirements (finished goods, raw materials, and packaging materials) necessary for the Company to meet its commercial, production and stockholding targets.
  • Interpret and carefully analyse current and projected stock on hand, historical sales, sales forecasts and budgets, market intelligence, planned promotional activities, and purchase order lead times
  • Recommend, establish and execute purchase orders on overseas and local suppliers. Manage claims on suppliers where necessary
  • Build and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide timely, relevant and accurate reports
  • Such additional tasks as may be instructed by management from time to time

Requirements:


  • Matric and relevant tertiary qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years procurement / demand planning / inventory planning experience within an FMCG environment essential. Global sourcing experience highly advantageous
  • Good commercial awareness, with the ability to react to opportunities as well as plan ahead.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail: ability to interpret sales, stock, forecast and other relevant information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills essential
  • SAP or similar ERP experience highly advantageous
  • Critical thinking and problemsolving, with a high attention to detail
  • Strong time management and multitasking ability, able to work well under pressure and in a dynamic environment
  • Flexible in response to work demands and international buying environment: must be willing & able to travel locally and internationally, work overtime when required, and be contactable and responsive outside of normal working hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels within diverse environment and cultures, and build strong professional relationships. Proven experience with SRM advantageous
  • Selfmotivated, takes initiative, has a willingness to learn
  • Honesty, integrity and reliability
  • Must have own transport
