The institute has a job opening for a Head of Department: Content Development within our Content Development department.

The Content Development team is primarily responsible for designing and developing effective learning and practice experiences, with a focus on blended learning and expertise in eLearning technologies.

Their aim is to ensure that learners can acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies in an engaging and effective manner.


The role requires a motivated individual who can provide academic leadership and vision to deliver a quality academic product in line with the company's mission of innovation and technology, empowering others to do the same.

It requires a strategic approach and practical implementation of the company and departmental missions and strategies.


Position Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Strategic, Managerial and Leadership: _Be capable of providing strong academic leadership and vision to deliver a quality driven academic product, based upon the company's mission of innovation and technology, empowering others to do the same.
It requires strong strategic input and practical implementation of the company and departmental mission and strategy:


  • Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship and vision to the relevant department.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies in line with the core business/departmental vision and strategic goals across all delivery methods.
  • Develop, upskill and deploy a highly skilled and innovative development team within the department.
  • Lead nationwide departmental team members to achieve and exceed delivery expectations.
  • Advising and contributing to curriculum development.
  • Managing and maintaining the content development team budget and finances.
  • Managing a team of creatives which includes: Monitoring of Content editor workflow, monitoring of work hours, production and creative brainstorming sessions.
  • Active member of the Academic Board.
  • Operational Responsibilities:_
  • Create and facilitate engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
  • Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
  • Research and Development around creative outputs and marketing for the institution and its brands.
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
  • Create and manage the creation supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, roleplays, games etc.)
  • Develop the criteria used to judge learner's performance and develop assessment instruments.
  • Ensuring the quality, style and standard of videos created by video editors.
  • Monitoring of all content creation progress.
  • Content Development, monitoring production, outputs, process flows.
  • Reviewing of content, facilitating content QA and ensuring content is on the correct portal.

Application Requirements:


  • Grade 12 with full Mathematics.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field is required.
  • Additional certifications or specialized training in instructional design methodologies, eLearning development, or multimedia production is preferred.
  • Significant experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or content creation is required. This may include experience in designing and developing instructional materials, eLearning modules, multimedia content, and assessments.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or management role, overseeing a team of instructional designers or content developers is desired.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and content management systems (CMS) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex instructional design projects, including planning, organizing, and coordinating resources, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Possess strong analytical and problemsolving skills to identify learning needs, develop innovative solutions, and address challenges in instructional design projects.
  • Demonstrate an above average ability to understand and learn technology.
  • Strong visual design skills in graphics and multimedia techniques, platforms, programs and technology such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Captivate, Camtasia and others.
