    New and Pre-owned Commercial Vehicle Sales

    The Commercial Vehicle Sales Manager is responsible for managing the following aspects of new and pre-owned vehicle sales:

    • Reviewing stock levels and ageing units in terms of costs.
    • Managing rebates and realizing outstanding rebates and writebacks.
    • Pre-reports, including managing stock levels.
    • Floor Plan, including managing new & demo inventory and transferring funds.
    • Debtors & Receipting, checking debtors lists and managing outstanding funds.
    • Advertising full stock lists on new vehicles.

    Resolving Customer Complaints

    The Sales Manager must ensure expeditious resolving of customer complaints.

    Price Setting

    Sales staff must stay competitive and have knowledge of vehicle prices.

    Marketing

    A marketing plan must be in place to promote new cars. Data, costs, OEM requirements, etc. must be reviewed.

    Deal File Reviews

    Staff must be aware of correct information on deal files and understand the legal aspects thereof.

    Scorecard Items

    The Sales Manager is responsible for scorecard items and realizing the importance of each.

    Parts Management

    The Parts Manager is responsible for managing the following aspects of parts:

    • Checking parts sale recons and statements.
    • Managing parts debtors, including account holders and how accounts are created.
    • Managing parts stock holding and ageing of stock. Stock holding of fast movers must be kept at a controllable low level.
    • Daily perpetual stock takes must be performed.
    • Quarterly full stock takes must be done.
    • Potential take backs of parts, handling fees and our policy.
    • Checking parts reports to know what excess stock exists and how to clear these stock items.

    Workshop Management

    The Service Manager is responsible for managing the following aspects of the workshop:

    • WIP (work in progress report), including managing all aspects on the report and identifying problems early.
    • Managing cash sales to ensure daily banking and eliminating fraud on cash deals.
    • Managing warranty and service claims with regards to ageing and write-offs.
    • Ensuring daily bookings are maximized to ensure optimal flow through the workshop.
    • Managing technician labour sales.
    • Managing workshop scorecard items.

    General Management / Accounting

    The General Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day concerns of dealership operations.

    They play a crucial role during selection and interviews for management positions within the dealerships.

    They provide direction and structure for all departments as it relates to risk, profitability, and staff.

    They ensure CSI within the dealerships are maintained.

    They ensure that dealerships achieve status levels.

    They reduce inefficient expenses at the dealership.

    They ensure net profitability of the dealership.

    They check creditors report and manage payments.

    They manage the credit note file review. They sign off on all creditor notes.

    They manage petty cash recons and floats.

    Checking Cash on Hand and Bank Recons

    They manage payroll in terms of sign off on recons, payslips, inputs, incentives, etc.

    Additional Duties

    They carry out additional reasonable duties, from time to time, at the discretion of management.

    Minimum Qualification and Requirements

    • Matric.
    • Tertiary qualification in business operations.
    • Minimum 5 years of motor industry managerial experience at a senior level as a Commercial Vehicle Dealer Principal.
    • Microsoft Office packages.
    • Dealer Operations Software.
    • Good business acumen.
    • Leadership skills and knowledge of management principles.
    • Good knowledge of accounting and business practices and compliance.
    • Motor Industry experience ESSENTIAL.
    • Candidates must meet the specified criteria to be shortlisted and contacted.
    • If no response is received within 14 days of submitting a CV, candidates can assume they have not been successful.
    • Only candidates with Automotive Industry experience will be considered and contacted unless otherwise stipulated.
