Group Reporting has a position available for a
Manager: Group Reporting who will be based in
Cape Town.

What will make you successful in this role?

The incumbent will be responsible for the financial and statutory reporting function of the Santam group, including dealing with accounting technical matters. This encompasses both externally directed financial reporting to shareholders and the Board as well as internally focused reporting with regards to management reports.

Duties will include:

Meeting all statutory reporting requirements producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines
Centre of expertise for technical reporting matters and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) requirements for the Santam Group; keeping abreast of changes in financial reporting requirements, regulations and legislation
Quality control of subsidiary reporting packs
Ensure that accounting policies and procedures are adhered to and financial records are valid, accurate and complete.
Development of accounting and management information systems, processes and reports to ensure that:
all generated reports correctly reflect transactions that have occurred

- appropriate reports are prepared for management and the board of directors to enable them to properly review information necessary for controlling the business and for decision making purposes

Reports meet requirements of stakeholders and the relevant service level agreement
Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance
Managing the group's consolidation processes and systems
Manage and oversee effective, accurate and timely reporting to the holding company (Sanlam), meeting deadlines and quality requirements
Liaising with auditors to provide required information and explanations to ensure an efficient audit process
Staff management & development

Qualification and Experience

CA (SA)
Minimum 5 years financial services experience at a senior level; experience in the insurance industry on a senior level would be highly recommended
Extensive financial accounting experience in complex technical environments, including group reporting experience
Currently operating in a senior reporting role in an insurance group or in a senior management role of an audit firm with extensive experience in the audit of insurance or financial services groups

Indepth technical knowledge of insurance accounting
Comprehensive and extensive knowledge of IFRS and a keen interest in IFRS developments
Insurance Act, Tax Act, Companies Act
Tax knowledge, planning and administration
Computer literate (Advanced Excel)
Knowledge of and experience with Hyperion Financial Management would be highly recommended
