Role Outline
To supervise the running of a safe and efficient operations needs based on committed contractual services that are;

  • People Management
  • Customer Relation Management
  • 3rd Party Supplier Management & Stakeholder Management
  • Preparing and Tracking operational performances
  • Working within clear guidelines to help achieve defined outcomes for the business unit and the customer.
  • Alignment with both DP DHL and Customer Compliance Procedures

Key areas of responsibility include:


  • Responsible for managing daily operation with team, Crisis management, Issue resolution and Delivery targets
  • Single point of contact to follow up on transport matters, will chase and communicate with warehouses and carriers for resolution and inform stakeholders accordingly. Providing full visibility on daily basis.
  • Supplier, Carrier and overall KPI preparation, tracking to attend KPI meetings with Management Team. Power PI tool is a plus
  • Implement and supervise the adherence of up to date processes, work instructions, standard operating procedures and associated forms to achieve prescribed outputs
  • Having strong customer relationships management skills
  • Preparing and updating SOP's, flow charts, managing daily operational audits, new task implementations and process improvements.
  • To support the FBAP Team by providing operational input into Carrier Reviews and validation of the tender process input and output
  • To monitor, manage and inform all related parties on time for all operational related costs; i.e upcharges, extra costs, demurrages, detention, storage costs etc. In case of any issue then to manage dispute resolution with the operational improvement.
  • Team management (coaching, performance reviews, one to one meetings, H.R. Related issues, DHL yearly people management, work load analysis etc)
  • To coach Operational Team about proactive solution and operational improvements
  • Career management of the operational team based on DHL Procedures

Qualifications/ Skills/Competencies/Experience

  • Matric (Essential)
  • Good standard of Education (A level or above)
  • Microsoft Office Programs knowledge (Outlook and Excel must, Power BI knowledge is a plus),
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Shipping documentation knowledge (Commercial Invoice, Freight Invoice, ATR, Certificate of Origin, Bill of Lading, etc.)
  • Experience in Oracle Transport Management System (OTM) is a plus
  • Minimum 4 years Import, Export, International Logistics and Supply Chain operations knowledge
  • Have good knowledge geographical information about region of dedicated markets
  • Clear understanding of KPI (Key Performance Indicator) and basic knowledge of KPI preparation
  • Good all around knowledge of Logistics principals and practices
  • Experience supervising the running of a safe and efficient operation, working within clear guidelines to help achieve defined outcomes for the site and the customer
