A globally respected, South African based company that specialises in Electrical & Electronic Manufacturing and is consistently at a leading position of developments in modern electronic technology, is looking for a Production Support Electronic Technician.

Local and international travel will be required. Valid driver's licence and own vehicle will be required.

Reports to:
Production Support Manager.


Job description / core competencies:

  • Repair & calibrate instruments on and off site.
  • Work closely with Instrumentation and Production departments to ensure efficient production.
  • Delivery of test equipment according to timescales as per project requirements.
  • Maintenance of instrumentation equipment documentation.
  • Data analysis of test results and of instrument performance.
  • Available for equipment repairs after hours.
  • Conduct field tests periodically.

Job Qualification & Experience:


  • National Diploma Electrical Engineering (S courses) or equivalent specialising in Electronics or Instrumentation.
  • 3 years' experience in installation, commissioning, calibration and repair of electronic test equipment.
  • Understanding of measurement principles and measurement systems.
  • Experience in PCB repairs down to component level.
  • Programming skills in highlevel languages such as C, C++ or Delphi.
  • Windows & microprocessorbased test platforms.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Statistical analysis of data.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Creative problem solving.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Planning, organisational & time management.
  • Good technical writing skills.

- installation electronic test equipment: 5 years (preferred)
- commissioning electronic test equipment: 5 years (preferred)
- calibration electronic test equipment: 5 years (preferred)
- repair electronic test equipment: 5 years (preferred)
- measurement principles and measurement systems: 5 years (preferred)

  • PCB repairs down to component level: 5 years (preferred)
- high-level languages such as C, C++ or Delphi: 5 years (preferred)

  • Windows & microprocessorbased test platforms: 5 years (preferred)

License/Certification:

  • National Diploma Electrical /Electronic Engineering (preferred)
