    Description

    Hardware and Device Specialist

    We are seeking a hardware and device specialist with expertise in communications devices such as modems, routers, and other networking equipment.

    This role involves working with our range of devices, including OpenWRT-based equipment and single-use Android devices.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Linux and OpenWRT

    The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Linux architecture, be proficient in CLI commands, and able to read, understand, debug, and troubleshoot shell scripts written in BASH.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Device Selection and Configuration: Authority on device selection and configuration, collaborating with the sales and solutions team to ensure correct device fit for customer needs.
    • Maintenance and Upgrades: Identify and execute remote maintenance and upgrade campaigns to ensure optimal device performance.
    • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve hardware-related issues and implement networking and communications solutions.
    • Compatibility Testing: Ensure new hardware devices are compatible with existing systems.
    • Security Measures: Implement and maintain security measures for hardware components to prevent unauthorized access.
    • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of hardware configurations and maintenance activities.
    • Vendor Relations: Collaborate with hardware vendors to evaluate potential new suppliers and negotiate contracts.
    • User Support: Provide Tier-2 support to end-users for hardware-related issues.
    • Network Integration: Work closely with network specialists to ensure seamless integration of hardware components.
    • Performance Monitoring: Monitor device performance to identify potential issues and optimize device operation.
    • Compliance: Ensure devices comply with industry regulations and standards.

    Desired Experience & Qualification

    • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology, or electronic engineering.
    • Hardware Knowledge: In-depth understanding of network hardware devices and their configurations.
    • Operating Systems: Proficiency in Linux and OpenWRT.
    • Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and device issues.
    • Networking: Deep understanding of networking concepts and configurations.
    • Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with end-users.
    • Documentation: Ability to document hardware configurations and solutions.
    • Stay Updated: Keep informed about the latest technologies and industry best practices.
    • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex hardware issues and implement effective solutions.
    • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
