Responsibility & Authority:


  • Interact with business units to ensure accurate payroll information is received in a timely manner. Able to interpret attendance and timekeeping systems.
  • Perform accurate and efficient payroll processing
  • Monthly reconciliation of payroll reports
  • Responsible for Payroll biweekly and monthend, third party payments and reconciliations.
  • Updating payroll system with new employee data into the company database and terminations.
  • Respond to employment verification requests.
  • Calculating employee benefits and deductions and other fringe benefits and correct processing.
  • Scheduling electronic payments and handing out paycheques.
  • Process Tax yearend and Bi-Annual reconciliations, and submissions of IRP5s.
  • Monthly reconciliation, submission and returns for the National Bargaining Council
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements affecting human resources and payroll functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with these requirements.
  • Works with the finance and HR teams with regards to annual audits and monthly reporting.
  • Annual leave/sick leave and various other leave types processing and reporting for all staff.
  • Prepare payroll checks for distribution and authorisation.
  • Process retirement fund withdrawals and online contribution reconciliations.
  • Responding to employee questions about compensation, taxes, benefits, and deductions.

  • Ensure proper documents and archiving of employee payroll files at all times
  • Experience in bookkeeping/accounting for payroll journals
  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Any other duties or ad hock tasks.
  • General Skills for the function_
  • Knowledge of the NBCRFLI Main Agreement
  • Computer literate in MS Excel and MS Word (pivot tables, V lookups etc.)
  • Proficient in SAP, Oracle, Sage 300/VIP Payroll knowledge and experience.

  • Matric and payroll qualification
  • Advanced payroll knowledge
  • Good Excel knowledge for reporting and recon purposes vlookups, pivot tables, formulas
  • BCom degree or any Finance qualification will be an added advantage
  • At least 5 10 years extensive Payroll experience,
