    The company seeks a Vice President: Sales - Southern Africa to develop and implement sales area strategy for the region.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Develop Sales Area Strategy for Southern Africa, aligned with Sandvik's overarching strategy.
    • Provide input into market dynamics driving business growth.
    • Lead development of Divisional Sales Strategies through collaboration with senior management team.
    • Produce quarterly strategic reports on Sales Area Strategy.
    • Guide alignment of sales strategies with market place and approach.
    • Maintain competitive advantage by staying up-to-date with changing markets and customer needs.
    • Lead competence development to ensure staff are fit for business purposes within Sales Area.

    Sales Area Management

    • Review and monitor sales performance across Southern Africa and individual Divisions.
    • Ensure senior management has necessary resources to meet targets.
    • Partner with senior management team to provide guidance on meeting targets and KPIs.
    • Monitor market place and manage changes to meet market requirements.
    • Oversee development of sales management team to ensure right people in right job.
    • Lead development of policies for Sales Area pertaining to pricing, products, mix, and brand portfolio.

    Statutory Requirements and Compliance

    • Participate as member on Board of Directors, meeting necessary reporting requirements.
    • Oversee compliance with local legislation and alignment to Sandvik targets.
    • Guide Divisions to ensure compliance to local regulations and legislative requirements.
    • Oversee adherence to applicable legislation, safety regulations, and internal standards.

    Stakeholder Relationship Management

    • Create collaborative environment to enhance sales across Southern Africa.
    • Provide leadership in management of sound business relationships.
    • Ensure necessary changes take into consideration needs of all stakeholders.
    • Participate in engagements with local communities and governments.

    Budget Oversight

    • Collaborate with Head of Finance and Business Control to measure sales growth and identify financial risks.
    • Ensure financial controls align with applicable financial legislation and regulations.
    • Review and approve budget forecasts submitted by senior management.

    People Management

    • Manage recruitment of direct reports, in consultation with Human Resources Department.
    • Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports to foster personal growth.
    • Manage performance of direct reports through performance agreements and reviews.
    • Manage development of Personal Development Plans for direct reports.

    Requirements

    • BSc Honours Degree in Mining, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or other Engineering field essential.
    • MSc Degree in Engineering or MBA advantageous.

    Experience

    • 12+ years' business management experience within complex environment, 8+ years in leadership capacity.
    • Experience managing business operations across Southern Africa.
    • Experience within mining industry.
