    Job Title: Supervisor (Packing Plant)

    The company, a leading manufacturer based in Durban, seeks a Supervisor to lead the packing plant team.

    Purpose of the Role:

    Reporting to the Production Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, supervision, and leadership of the shift, ensuring safe operation of the production process by implementing initiatives to control and achieve technical KPIs, as well as providing support in improving the running of the packing plant.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and supervise the packing plant team to ensure smooth daily operations.
    • Optimize packer machines for efficient production and minimize downtime.
    • Ensure production targets are met daily by monitoring and adjusting processes as needed.
    • Perform regular stock reconciliations and compile accurate production reports.
    • Manage inventory levels, including plastics and empty bags, to prevent stockouts and overstocking.
    • Maintain efficient usage of packaging materials per production line and reduce waste generation at the palletizer and packing area.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks and report any equipment breakdowns to the Production Manager.
    • Collaborate with shift artisans to resolve issues and escalate matters during operations meetings.
    • Ensure high standards of workmanship, document data accurately, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
    • Participate in SHEQ initiatives to achieve company objectives and prioritize safety on the job through regular safety checks.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Grade 12 Senior Certificate or equivalent.
    • A recognized trade test with a minimum of NTC 4 as a Millwright (preferably studying towards completing an N6 Diploma).
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in heavy industry engineering.
    • Familiarity with SAP software and basic computer literacy skills.
