Description

The Company will employ the student to conduct a Work-Place Learning experience in order for them to complete their Biotechnology / Analytical Chemistry diploma.

They will be based in the QC laboratory reporting into the Laboratory Supervisor and may be required to work in production together with the In-process Assayist in order to gain experience in that area of our business.

They will be trained in our methods by our current Testing Associates & In-process Assayists in routine and non-routine analyses of intermediate products.

They will be included in investigation work that is carried out in compliance with laboratory systems in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), cGood Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and ISO standards.

The student will utilize specialized equipment and analytical techniques to provide support to operations, team members, including cross functional investigations.


Role Requirements
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


Role Specific:


  • Ensure that selfbehaviour is aligned with company values and expectations.
  • Analysis of all samples according to the relevant specification and according to approved test methods and laboratory standards.
  • Recording and publishing/reporting of results to relevant personnel with the appropriate urgency to ensure SPC plotting.
  • Responsible for reporting the status of consumables/stock levels to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Report on specification results and conduct primary investigation of out of specification results.
  • Supports any testing for cross functional investigations.
  • Reports faulty equipment to the QC & Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Adhere to and assist with company standards/programs e.g. Health and Safety programme, GLP and cGMP.
  • Take part in Gage R&R/Proficiency Testing when required.
  • Trend data pertaining to product performance characteristics.
  • Investigate out of specification results according to QMS OOS Guidelines and solve technical problems.
  • Conduct internal audits where required.
  • Ensure personal training plan is achieved.
  • Must be prepared to work overtime on weekends if requested.
  • Must keep a portfolio of evidence of all training and experience gained and ensure that the relevant training forms are completed and signed off by the trainer.
  • Must adhere to all criteria to meet the deliverables to complete their Workplace experience.
  • Adhere to workplace policies and procedures.
  • Log Out of Specification and Non-Conformances reports.
  • Close out Corrective Actions as per target dates and maintain compliance KPI >85%.
  • Provide solutions to specific technical challenges encountered with laboratory equipment and troubleshooting during Out of Specifications.
  • Provide solutions to service demands expected from laboratory team and meet daily sample testing targets.


This is a high through-put department with tight deadlines, directly contributing to end of month sales targets, whilst maintaining Quality standards, and meeting customer requirements.

In order to meet targets, communication between all departments must be maintained - primarily Supply Chain, QC, QA and Logistics.

  • Periodic review of laboratory procedures.
