Job Advert Summary:

Purpose of the position:

The Enrolled Nurse will be supporting the Professional Nurse in providing a comprehensive, integrated primary health care service to people who inject drugs (PWID) and people who use drugs (PWUD), within his/her scope of practice.

S/he is able to administer medication under the supervision of the Professional Nurse, within legislative regulations; monitor vital signs and document care provided in an accurate manner.

The Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for stock management, excluding the handling of schedule 6 drugs. Support and mentor peers and HTS counsellors with the guidance of a Professional Nurse.

Minimum Requirements:

Enrolled nurse qualification
SRH course for EN (desirable)
A minimum of 2 years' community nursing experience
Experience and received training in sexual reproductive health
Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an enrolled nurse
Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Proficiency in English and another African languages
Valid code 8 driver's licence
Willingness to travel as and when required

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ability to identify signs of deterioration or overdose to allow early detection and better
Administer medication under the supervision of a trained PN
Assist with stock management and keeping consumption data and stock cards uptodate
Keep HTS, linkage and referral registers uptodate
Reconciling stock monthly
Signing HTS registers and IQC registers for accuracy and compliance
Asset management and quarterly reporting
Demonstrating treatment techniques for specific diseases to PWID
