    Description

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Implement and execute the Environmental Management System based on ISO 14001 and related procedures within the designated area of the business.
    • Ensure compliance to legislative and governance requirements of the designated area of the business through the implementation of compliance measures.
    • Obtain Environmental Approvals by executing the required process.
    • Implement and monitor Environmental Management Systems including Waste, Water, Fire, Hazardous Substance, Flora & Fauna, Rehabilitation, Pollution Prevention, Sanitation, and Non-Conformance Reports.
    • Conduct Environmental Investigations including Incident Management and Internal & External Auditing.
    • Provide training and awareness on key occupational safety and health issues.

    Requirements

    National Diploma or B Tech or BSc in Environmental Management is required.

    The following minimum experience is required:

    • 4 years of relevant experience plus National Diploma in Post-qualification experience in environmental management, or
    • 3 years of relevant experience plus B Tech in Post-qualification experience in environmental management, or
    • 2 years of relevant experience plus BSc in Post-qualification experience in environmental management.

    • Demonstrate ability to deliver on expectations.

    Knowledge

    • Environmental Impact Assessments are essential.
    • Ability to conduct Environmental risk and due diligent assessments.
    • Experience in Environmental incident investigations.
    • Familiarity with statutory environmental approvals applicable in the designated area of the business such as Environmental Authorisation, Waste Licence, Water Use Licence, Tree cutting permit, and Atmospheric Emission Licence.
    • Familiarity with SHEQ Management System.

    Skill

    • Able to apply analytical and logical thinking to gather and analyse information, design and test solutions to problems, and formulate plans.
    • Effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
    • Able to interact and mobilise stakeholders effectively.
    • Excellent communication skills to convey messages to staff and stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with Mkhulu EDP business policies, procedures, and systems.
    • Familiarity with environmental statutory/legislative requirements.
    • Proven problem-solving skills.
    • Able to write effective and professional reports.
    • Hold a valid Drivers Licence.
