Description

Main job function
Assist with implementing MikroTik router, configurations based on specific requirements and network topogies

Configure and optimize MikroTik router settings including firewall rules, routing protocols VLAN's, VPN's and quality of service (QOS) policies

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as updating firmware, monitoring systems performance and analysing network traffic to ensure optimal performance and security

Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to MikroTik routers, including connectivity and routing problems

Collaborate with the network engineering team to develop and maintain network documentation including diagr4ams, configurations and standard operating procedures

Conduct tests and evaluation of new MikroTik features, technologies and hardware to assess compatibility and performance with the existing infrastructure


Stay updated with the latest MikroTik products, software releases and industry trends to provide recommendations for network improvements and enhancement.

Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and network administrators

Assist in the planning and execution of network expansion projects, ensuring seamless integration of MikroTik routers into the existing infrastructure

Maintain a high level of professionalism, customer service and adherence to organizational policies and procedures

Assist in all departments to lower the pressure as needed, even if not in the field of work

Answer phones and assist in reception and on support desk if and when required

Help with improvements of both the company and office area to keep standards high

Provide training to junior technicians to improve their knowledge and understanding of MikroTik configuration better.


Qualifications:

Qualifications Required
Grade 12

Certification such as MikroTik Certified Network Associate 9MTCNA0 or MikroTik Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE) will be an advantage


Experience:


Experience/Criteria
Proven experience working as a MikroTik technician or in a similar role

Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP.VLAN's, VPN's, Routing

Principles will be an advantage including BGP, OSPF

Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting MikroTik routers and related software including RouterOS

Familiarity with network security, best practices and the ability to implement and maintain firewall rules for client configurations

Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support, if required

Ability to perform under pressure
