    Quality Manager Role Summary

    This role assumes responsibility for implementing, managing and sustaining the clinical governance framework, its pillars and related standards. The Quality Manager will ensure compliance with legislation, company requirements and industry standards within the hospital.

    Detailed Job Description

    • Patient Experience: Drive improved patient experience through collaboration with hospital line managers and the Chief Risk Officer (CRO).
    • Clinical Risk Management:
      • Oversee the Health & Safety Framework, including the appointment of Health & Safety Representatives and ensuring a functional Health & Safety Committee structure.
      • Drive Function/Department risk assessment and risk register development, as well as mitigation actions.
      • Manage the Hazard Control and Risk Work (HCRW) process in collaboration with the IPC and service provider.
      • Ensure emergency preparedness and disaster management readiness.
    • Compliance: Ensure yearly audits are completed and findings are addressed.
    • Clinical Outcomes: Capture month-end data, extract hospital scorecards, review and analyze them monthly to identify deviations/trends and implement corrective action.
    • Quality Improvement: Identify and support line managers with Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) related to improved patient experience, safety and outcomes.
    • Clinical Programs/Accreditation: Understand clinical program objectives and accreditation requirements and oversee the Accreditation Coordinator's efforts to achieve required outcomes.
    • OHS and Quality Training: Provide training according to OHS Act requirements (Health & Safety Representative, Emergency Preparedness, Incident Management, etc.).
    • Leadership: Play a lead role in coordinating quality improvement initiatives, clinical/accreditation programs and clinical quality reporting with relevant hospital stakeholders.

    Job Requirements

    • Degree/Diploma: In Nursing or Degree/Diploma in Safety/Quality Management
    • Registration: Current registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC), if applicable
    • Knowledge: Health and safety knowledge
    • SAP Experience: Preferably
    • Legislation: Knowledge of relevant legislation (specifically OHS Act)
    • Industry Understanding: Understanding of private health industry challenges and key role players
    • Computer Literacy: Computer literacy is essential (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • Transport: Driver's license and own transport
    • Preference: Preference will be given to Employment Equity Candidates
