Job Summary

Responsible for safe, smooth and productive operating of the baling machine as well as the forklift vehicle that has been allocated.

Responsible for additional general work duties on site.


Responsibilities

Productivity and profitable workflow

  • Responsible to achieve maximum productivity from machinery and forklift
  • Responsible to keep maintenance costs of machinery as low as possible
  • Responsible to report low levels of consumables (rope, wire, strapping etc)
  • Responsible to maintain enough fuel in tanks to complete the following shift

SHEQ

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining SHEQ standards on and around machinery and forklift
  • Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping standards around machinery and forklift
  • Responsible for controlling the quality of product processed with your machinery and forklift
  • Make sure that you are properly qualified and certified to operate equipment and forklift
  • Never allow anyone that is not properly qualified to operate equipment and forklift
  • Ensure the machine and vehicle are locked out and safe and a PTW has been issued before maintenance or cleaning on the machine takes place
  • Responsible for keeping management informed about the condition of the machine and the vehicle
  • Responsible for stacking and packing
  • Ensure safe stacking of product
  • Responsible for reporting on quality of product transported with your vehicle

Maintenance

  • Responsible for filling in checklists as per specific equipment and vehicle requirements
  • Responsible to report any malfunctions immediately
  • Responsible for basic maintenance of machine (checking oil, grease, etc)
  • Responsible to keep machinery and workstation clean and tidy
  • Responsible of ensuring 1 hourly inspections are conducted for wound up strapping on prop shafts and wheel joints

Attendance

  • The nature of this position is of high responsibility. Operators must be reliable and add value to the team
  • Operators will be monitored closely for absenteeism
  • Be available for ADHOC work and work shifts when requested

Record keeping

  • Production records are to be kept and submitted to the Contract Manager regularly
  • To record daily tasks and any maintenance done on machinery and vehicle
  • Inform Contract Manager 3 months before your license expires

Requirements:


  • Education: minimum Grade 10
  • Operating experience dependant on type of machine to be operated
  • 13 years forklift operating experience is required
  • Literate, able to fill in diary and reports
  • Qualification to operate specific machine and to operate forklift
