    Description

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Tertiary qualification in Production Management or any similar qualification
    • 5 years of experience in a similar position with at least 3years in managing a team
    • Knowledge within the Hardware or Retail sector would be advantageous.
    • Knowledge of IQ Retail System would be advantageous.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Planning:

    • Liaise with Operations Manager re current projections vs. actual sales.
    • Review/ adjust monthly Planning Schedule & Weekly Plans.
    • Conduct weekly Production Meeting at Conversion & Daily Production meeting Extrusion, identify and action optimum programme to execute planned requirements.
    • Discover trends in market demand vs. stock, on hand (Finished, WIP, Raw and Packaging), identify potential shortfalls, recommend remedial action.
    • Review plant availability (condition, planned maintenance, schedule, etc).

    Organizing (Shift Initiation):

    • Review throughput requirement for shift.
    • Ensure all production inputs and resources are in place (Staff, machines, materials, dies, weighing scales).

    Controlling (Production):

    • Plant & People declared safe to operate at start-up.
    • Monitor production flow ito. Plant performance, compliance with safety and health standards, quality, and best-practice requirements.
    • Identify deviations from required standards and their causes, initiate corrective action.

    • Ensure optimum Control Room & Operator liaison – discover and address gaps.
    • Monitor material batches, discover/ address nonconformances.
    • Identify and mitigate potential hazards.
    • Ensure physical security of negotiable items (products, etc).
    • Oversee Process changes according to varying operating conditions – oversee manual interventions – log such changes and recommend changes.

    Documentation:

    • Produce reports on variable elements related to production e.g. daily/weekly production, maintenance, safety.
    • Input production data into system (BOM).
    • Produce statutory records as required.
    • Ensure availability of documents.
    • Procuring of Local Buyouts.

    Leadership:

    • Select and appoint team members.
    • Enable delivery capacity of team members through training, communication and setting clear performance standards.
    • Implement a performance-enabling environment through working conditions, feedback on actual delivery, support, recognition and reward, fostering teamwork, fairness and other best-practice leadership processes.
    • Discover sources of workplace conflict and resolve proactively.
