SEIDOR Africa is currently looking for an Human Resources Payroll Officer to process and manage the company's payroll and support our Human Resources department and act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries from employees and external partners.

Your main administrative duties include maintaining personnel records, managing HR documents (e.g. employment records and onboarding guides) and updating internal databases. You will be the one to calculate salaries based on hours worked and administer payments.

As payroll specialist you would be required to use payroll software with accuracy and efficiency. The position requires you to be good with numbers and be trusted with sensitive information.

The goal is to ensure personnel receives the correct compensation in a timely manner.

Ultimately, you should be able to ensure our HR department supports our employees while conforming to labor laws.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Completed Undergraduate Qualification in HR Management or Payroll Administration
  • BA/BSc in Human Resources, Business or a related field
  • Payroll Certification (preferred)
  • Understanding and competency in cross border: East Africa and SADC countries (advantageous)
  • 34 Years Payroll specific working experience
  • Proficient in SAGE VIP Payroll and/or VIP Premier Payroll
- and/or Payspace.

  • Knowledge of Labour Legislation and Tax Law affecting employees
  • Tax Year End and Interim Submissions
  • Use of eFiling Web Portal
  • Experience working on multiple payrolls (foreign exchange an advantage)

Human Resources Payroll Officer responsibilities are:

  • Group payroll processing (South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius and Zambia)
  • Gathering information on hours worked for each employee
  • End to end processing of selected (weekly, fortnightly and monthly) payrolls
  • Calculating the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with assistance of a computer system
  • Preparing reports for upper management, finance department etc.
  • Interacts with business units to ensure accurate payroll information is received in a timely manner
  • Receiving approval from upper management for payments
  • Process taxes and payment of employee benefits
  • Works with the finance team on annual audits and monthly reporting
  • Payroll monthend, third party payments and reconciliations
  • Tax yearend and Bi-Annual reconciliations and submissions of IRP5's
  • Maintain various Pension and Provident Fund Portfolios
  • Pension additions and withdrawals processing
  • Prepares journals for finance in respect of subsidiary costing
  • Submit RoEs annually
  • Annual Discovery Health updates of member options

  • Additions, withdrawals and changes
  • UIF group declarations
  • Annual PRIMA worksheet for auditors postretirement medical aid funding
  • Technical support for all VIP users
  • Responds to employment verification requests
  • Maintain Staff Files
  • Keeping track of hourly rates, wages, compensation benefit rates, new hire information etc.
  • Annual leave/sick leave processing and accurate record keeping for all staff
  • Addressing issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors needed
  • Handling employees records
  • Updating the database with necessary information
  • Assisting with the preparation of documents
  • Addressing employees queries
  • Participating in HR activities
  • Working closely with payroll to provide information for employees (sick leave, vacation, etc.)

Human Resources Payroll Officer requirements are:
