Our client is an established fish processing company based in Atlantis.


Job purpose
Capture production data to ensure correct yields and costing for all batches. Manage the effective running of the department by achieving set targets without

compromising food safety and quality.


Requirements:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good time management.
  • Able to work in a fresh seafood environment which may be cold, wet and strong seafood scented.
  • Must have own transport.
  • Willing and able to work overtime as and/when requested.

Key responsibilities

  • Overseeing the smooth running of the Strapping department.
  • Implement the Corporate Policy by communicating department's objectives to the employees and ensure that it is understood by all.
  • Manage the issuing of raw materials to the production floor and that the data is correct, and traceability is maintained.
  • Manage the receiving of finished/raw materials and that the data is correct, and traceability is maintained.
  • Allocate batch numbers to fresh fish and ensure that it gets placed in old storage promptly.
  • Ensure that good storage/cold storage practices are followed.
  • Communicate production requirements to department managers.
  • Capture and verify production order data on all applicable platforms.
  • Work closely with quality department to ensure the incoming/outgoing quality checks are performed and approved timeously, and report temperature fluctuations.
  • Ensure adherence to:
− Food safety and quality procedures.

− Health and safety measures to minimize or eliminate incidents; and

− Factory rules and regulations

  • Assist in preventative measures by reporting machinery that needs repairs.
  • Manage employee queries and relations.
  • Continuously evaluate employees.
  • Ensure general housekeeping is maintained so that the department is clean,
organized, appealing and safe.

  • Understand all HACCP policies and procedures and report any food safety risks.
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures and show leadership in supporting
those policies and procedures.


Qualifications/Skills

  • Grade 1
  • HACCP knowledge will be advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 36
  • PC literate in Ms Word and Excel (intermediate to advanced level).
  • Exposure to an ERP system will be advantageous.
  • Strong numerical aptitude attention to detail is very important.

Experience needed

  • At least 3 years relevant experience within an FMCG admin environment.
  • Experience in the seafood/fishing industry will be advantageous.
Working hours 08h00 - 17h30, weekends as required (hours may fluctuate due to production requirements, weekends/public holidays and overtime as per operational

requirements).
