DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily communication with mine and drilling contractor to ensure that blast planning meets expected production targets.
Involve all staff members and subcontractors in daily safety meetings
Complete all safety reporting as per company standards
Order all explosives requirements timeously and check the order upon delivery.
Complete all charging up and blasting operations in a safe and legal manner.
Complete all blast report information immediately after the blast and ensure that it is filed as per legal requirements.
Daily inspection of all company assets in his area of responsibility.

CORE COMPETENCES:

Certified Blaster with Blasting Certificate for the applicable class of mine
Five to eight years of experience in mining industry, preferably with operations in an open pit;
Strong communication skills both verbal and written;
Ability to work well at a fast pace;
Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards; and
Experience working at a remote mining site and in a crosscultural work environment.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCES:

Education/Qualifications:

Other skills (languages, IT, other technical knowledges):

Operational experience at a Foreman or Mine Overseer level in Drilling and Blasting
Experience in Drilling or Blasting logistics
3 years plus experience in Blasting or Drilling Operations
