This job is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and will be responsible for the Logistics and Expediting functions for Sub Saharan Africa and other regions when needed.


Job Summary
Guarantee a positive customer experience and ensure quick shipment of customer orders. Manage speedy and knowledgeable responses to assist customer regarding their everyday shipments.


Responsibilities:


  • Work with appointed Freight Forwarders to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of inbound and outbound of goods from world locations.
  • Keep abreast with latest development with regards to rules and regulations pertaining to import and export issues in South Africa as well as regions shipping to as they relate to how the company's business may be impacted.
  • Preparation of all shipping and export documentation using in house software.
  • Maintain export files for record retention and Government audit requirements.
  • Approves freight bills for accounts.
  • Liaise with other overseas Discrete Automation entities on matters relating to shipping and receiving of goods.
  • Liaise with customers /freight forwarders on collection /shipping of ready orders.
  • Receive the Drop Ship Orders in the system, Review the documents and produce to Finance for Invoicing purpose.
  • Communicate with the Order Administration department on which orders are to be shipped.
  • Trade Compliance Divisional Shipping Compliance Gatekeeper in accordance with Emerson MEA Trade Compliance procedures
  • Replace other team members when necessary to maintain the level of service / Offer assistance to any team member when necessary. Contribute to back up and organization specific for critical business processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement: Share issues and propose corrective and preventative actions followed in actions plans held by the Team Leader, thereby ensuring the level of customer service required.
  • Ensure Health and safety compliance as per standards under local law.
  • Any additional task which might be needed by the business.
**What do I need to be considered for this role?

  • Bachelor's degree/diploma in business administration, Logistics or International Trade.
  • Minimum three (3) years progressive industry experience in logistics and/or customer service role
  • Attention to details, perfectionist, proactivity, Cooperative, willingness to interact, team player
  • Ability to work under time pressure and multitasking
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problem
  • Excellent Customer sense
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Good knowledge and demonstrated practice of international trade: Incoterms, Payment terms, Transport
