Role Purpose:

Assure preventative and reactive generator maintenance services performance and quality delivery in the network field operations.

The individual will be accountable to instil operating cadence that promotes adequate governance structures, controls, and measures for generator KPI's and SLAs in the Field Force Operations (FFO).

The individual will need to support and implement the required systems and solutions to enable the optimisation of the end-to-end value chain and ensure that all filed network maintenance stakeholders are managed diligently.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Generator SLAs maintenance management: servicing, refuelling and deployment of fleet with FFO Suppliers.
  • Management of monthly fuel reconciliation to detect any possible abuse or fraudulent activities.
  • Establish the necessary controls for efficient purchasing, storage and refuelling of fleet.
  • Establish efficient ways for generator repairs to ensure fleet availability of 98% across all regions.
  • Management of SLAs with the appointed suppliers for servicing and repairing generators.
  • Establish the common Spares to be kept for generator repairs.
  • Providing expert advice on an appropriate fleet mix (statics, fuel cells and mobiles).
  • Providing support to the regions on generator availability.
  • Management of Generator WFM workflows and integration.
  • Ensuring that the entire fleet is visible on monitoring system.
  • Provide weekly and monthly availability reports to senior management.
  • Provide the status of the fleet indicating age and repair costs and facilitate scrapping and replacement of Over-TheCap management, calculation, reporting and engagement with the FFO Suppliers and uneconomical generator units with the regions.
  • Ensure generator preventative service and refuelling interval and compliance
  • Ensure generator repairs and investigative work is carried out timely and qualitatively
  • Ensure weekly and monthly reporting with recommendations
  • Support in the management of service credits
  • Management and restoration of escalated substandard activities with the regions
  • Ensure Quality Audits are done for the 50% desktop and 10% on site of the sites
  • KPI review and reporting for compliance with SLA's

Technical / Professional Qualifications:


  • 3year Diploma/degree in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) telecoms
  • At least 35 years relevant experience
  • Project management qualification will be an added advantage

  • Able to work in fast paced, stressful, everchanging environment
