    Job Description

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conducts assignments in the civil engineering field, plans, organises and manages complex projects.
    • Makes recommendations on alternate solutions to engineering problems, prepares and presents technical plans and reports.
    • Institutes changes in methods, designs or equipment, may be Project leader and head smaller business unit and/or construction site.
    • Collections and analyses information from discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models, fully develops the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge.
    • Participates in the interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables, including BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection).
    • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, specifications, sketches, diagrams, specific discipline BIM models, drawings, reports and tender documents.
    • Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes an approach to solving new problems encountered.
    • Performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
    • Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities, ensuring the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions.
    • Coordinates with authorities for scheme approvals.

    Client Relationship Management:

    Begins to participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc.

    Qualifications

    • BTech degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
    • 8+ years relevant experience post qualification in highway engineering.
    • Professionally registered with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa).
    • Demonstrated expertise in highway design, construction, and maintenance.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.
    • Strong knowledge of local and national highway standards and regulations.
    • Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) in infrastructure projects.
    • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting and scheduling.
    • Proven ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Experience in liaising with government authorities and stakeholders.
    • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
    • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with industry trends.
