We are looking for a Project Director (Large Projects

  • Rail) to join our Client's Infrastructure team. The infrastructure team brings its design, build and refurbishment expertise to complex projects across the country. We form strong partnerships with clients and communities to deliver major infrastructure improvements.

Duties:


  • Provide and promote excellence in work
  • Provide strong leadership to shape and drive the Capture Planning and Bidding phases.
  • Drive the Successful delivery of Projects in accordance with the Company's Procedures, Management Systems and Performance Targets.
  • Create and build suitably experienced Project teams for the benefit of the Client and the Project.
  • Support the Directors and the Board to build the Business in accordance with the "Strategy Plan".
  • Lead the development of Client, Customer, Stakeholder and Supply Chain Relationships.

Bid Stage:


  • Work with the stakeholders to develop Capture Plans, with a focus on competitivity.
  • Implement 'Pricing to Win' thinking and best practice in the development of the above.
  • Perform the role of Bid Director in advance of and during the PQQ, ITT phases, providing leadership and ownership to the 'bid', leading the external (customer) and upwards internal stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Responsible for working closely with the Bid Manager to ensure the transfer and continuity of the Capture Plan thinking and strategy into the Bid Execution Plan, and onwards into the Project Execution Plan.
  • Responsible for delivering the highest quality bid to the agreed budget.

Contract Stage:


  • Overall responsibility for delivery of projects to contractual arrangements and the financial outcome agreed
  • Establish the Project Execution Plan and set up the project organisation for its implementation
  • Provide Leadership, direction and mentoring to Project Managers, responsible for large scale multidisciplinary teams developing high quality solutions on time and on budget;
  • Liaise with senior stakeholders, including Client Project Directors (or equivalent) to resolve issues early and safeguard our interests
  • Ensure appropriate resources and expertise are made available and that an appropriate project management framework is in place
  • Agreeing commercial strategies and assisting with the delivery of business targets;
  • Respond and deal with any contractual/commercial risks as soon as they are identified; develop Project risk management strategies;
  • Develop potential future work opportunities through relationships with clients, suppliers and members of the construction community.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and support for all stakeholders, internal and external, to the scheme, programme or Alliance.
  • Ensure best practice and lessons (good practice and improvement areas) are captured and shared.

Competencies Required:


  • Excellent proven collaborative leadership skills across a variety of situations, including project delivery, work winning and business leadership; both inward and outward focused.
  • Experience of building and leading large, diverse teams.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of commercial and contractual conditions and project management.
  • Programme Management experience at a senior level with evidence of managing and delivering multidisciplinary Infrastructure Projects.
  • Successful Project or Programme management of large infrastructure Alliance in the Rail Sector in excess of R1bn. Exhibiting leadership capabilities to lead large diverse teams.
  • Significant experience in dealing with Rail Infrastructure Clients preferably Network Rail. In depth Collaboration experience. Clear understanding of Government / regulatory authority impact on our clients and evidence on how to use this to maximise the short and long term return to Client and the Alliance members.
  • Experience with public sector clients and appreciates the different drivers and approach to management and procurement
  • Knowledge and Understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training.

Extensive Technical knowledge and experience of:

  • Heavy Civil engineering in an existing Rail environment including Chord structures, Station works to platforms, viaduct widenings;
  • Rail systems works within a live railway environment including new OLE, P-Way Power Supplies, Signalling and telecoms.
  • Extensive knowledge, experience and success in the end to end GRIP / PACE process, Network Rails / DFT governance process to ensure smooth transitions between each PACE stage.
  • Extensive and successful experience in working in a Live HV substation environment
  • Extensive and successful experience of leading a framework, collaborating with 3rd party partners and negotiating individual work orders with customers to meet the Alliance, business and customer needs.

Qualifications:


  • BDegree in Civil Engineering/ Consttruction/ Mechanical
  • 15 Years Experience

Salary:
R2,500,00
