Primary Purpose of the Job:

• Provide patient care in accordance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) regulations.
• Manage mailboxes to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Urgent compliance.

Main Responsibilities:

• Capture new or repeat prescriptions accurately, including oncology, acute, chronic, or private medication.
• Blind-check claimed prescriptions and patient medication templates to minimize script rejections.
• Arrange and follow up on authorizations, providing relevant feedback.
• Comply with SLA requirements by completing mailbox profiles, blind checking, action diaries, and follow-up within required timelines.
• Handle paper claims submission and follow up on payments as needed.
• Respond professionally to email messages, incoming calls, or inquiries from patients, Healthcare Providers, and management.
• Engage in clinical discussions with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Assist with tracking queries and pre-notify deliveries.
• Manage credit returns by logging pick-ups and following up on returns and credits.
• Maintain stock care and stock management, including short-dated stock, dormant stock, high-value stock items, and assist with bi-annual stock take as required.
• Address stat 30, stat 32, and stat 33 stock rejections.
• Manage Medication Management Limits (MML) and Medication Prescription Review (MPR) in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Validate Section 21 and Patient Assisted Programs (PAF) orders as needed.
• Place per-patient item orders for high-value or low-usage items.
• Claim Gipap/Tipap scripts and INV's received.
• Address OUT OF WIP notifications.
• Handle rejections as required or created by the user.
• Support administrator and pharmacist assistants as needed within the cluster.
• Attend SOP training and revision training.
• Comply with Company Policies, Procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Foster collaboration with pharmacist assistants (clinical inquiries, training, and coaching).
• Ensure Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) and pharmacist code of conduct compliance within the cluster and department.
• Adhere to Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) regulations.
• Maintain profile information.
• Train new pharmacists within the cluster.

Operational Requirements:

• Complete daily work according to level requirement.
• Maintain accuracy during blind checking.
• Address action diaries.
• Ensure SLA compliance.
• Follow MML Adherence guidelines.
• Handle calls and emails professionally, maintaining confidentiality and providing accurate information in a timely manner.
• Follow up and finalize queries appropriately.

Customer Service and Internal Process Compliance (Quality Assurance):

• Implement Incident Reporting (IR) intervention (QA, IPC, Stock returns log, etc.).
• Focus on minimizing errors and customer-related complaints.
• Comply with SOPs.

Staff Behaviour:

• Be available and productive according to contracted hours.
• Manage leave through ESS in accordance with company policies and requirements.
• Comply with Eco Time procedures for daily clocking.
• Use Time Work Balance (TWB) option correctly by notifying manager and completing ESS process.
• Maintain 100% housekeeping compliance as per quarterly audit expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12 certificate.

Experience:

• A minimum of 2 years as a registered pharmacist, including internship and community service.
• Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Solid knowledge of the Pharmacy Act.
