Key Requirements

12th-grade education + Bachelor's degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management
Proven technical buying experience in the construction industry
Familiarity with tender buying and contracts buying
Advanced computer skills, including Excel BuildSmart, Leads to Business, and CCS
Understanding of BoQ, construction materials, production schedules, and lead times for material requirements
Strong technical knowledge of resource lists produced by CCS and supply chain management
Bulk order management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
At least 8 years of experience in tender buying.

Job Responsibilities

Manage procurement for the business, including tender buying for the tender division and contracts buying for the construction division
Negotiate contracts and terms of business with suppliers to achieve the best deal for our company
Evaluate tenders and quotations from potential suppliers
Monitor market changes, competitor prices, and products
Develop and maintain trust relationships with suppliers to promote fair dealing and strategic partnerships
Identify customer preferences and forecast trends in the market to anticipate potential shortages or over-supplies
Negotiate agreements to secure the best deals for our company
Contact suppliers to resolve issues related to price, quality, delivery, or invoices
Collaborate with the production team and master scheduler to reduce costs on materials
Manage internal and external stakeholders, communicating expected shortages or delivery delays to relevant departments
Prioritize deliveries from key suppliers, obtain approval for alternative methods, sources, or materials, and investigate invoice/purchase order discrepancies
Ensure compliance with budgetary parameters, production requirements, and quality standards
Demonstrate results-oriented work style with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
Maintain attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge of purchasing processes, policies, and sourcing concepts
Evaluate supplier options based on price, quality, B-BBEE, enterprise development, and determine the best choices for strategic partnerships
Develop a database of suppliers
