Job Summary
The Construction Contracts Manager oversees projects from the start through to completion.

The Construction Contract Manager job entails tasks such as planning, budgeting, making key decisions, ensuring that construction projects fall within the proposed budget, and ensuring that all duties are executed and completed on time.


Project Scope
The Construction Contracts Manager will be responsible to oversee the daily operation and progress of the below projects from start to finish:

  • Roads and Earthworks
  • Water and Sewer Reticulation
  • Reservoir and Concrete Works
  • Bulk Water Pipelines
  • Building Works

Key Responsibility Areas:
Core Functions


  • Manage and plan all technical aspects of each project and approve all program plans and method statements submitted to the client
  • Prepare and manage budgets and costings
  • Ensure procurement and reconciliation of materials are carried out in accordance with company procedures to best value and to prevent delays.
  • Occasional Finalize Tenders and verify prices before submission
  • Ensure site compliance with company commercial policies and procedures
  • Ensure all required tests are timeously undertaken (Quality Assurance)
  • Attend tender handover meetings and deliver prestart meetings to the site team
  • Ensure a commercial plan and endoflife forecast are in place and monitor monthly for the successful commercial delivery of the project.
  • Advise the Operations Director on Civils Related Contractual and Technical matters
  • Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors (rates, contracts agreement)
  • Implement the risk management process, review the risk register, and check risk controls
  • Complete and distribute the contract initiation/completion form for each project
  • Ensure weekly review of progress, and budget resources, and forward the planning to the Operations Director
  • Chair and attend internal and external meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussion and actions
  • Ensure timely management of both temporary and permanent designs to meet the requirements of each project.
  • Management of the operations of all sites and management of all site managers

Education and Formal Training

  • Matric
  • BSc/BTech in Civil Engineering

Job-Related Requirements

  • Must be registered as a Professional Construction Manager with the SACPCMP or a Professional Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist/Engineer with ECSA.
  • Must have knowledge of contract management of three or more complex projects running at the same time.
  • Ability to use Construction Costing Software ("Candy").
  • Extensive experience in safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of labour laws and regulations

Salary:
From R55,000.00 per month


Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Kempton Park, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Application Question(s):

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience as a contracts manager managing variety of projects
  • Must be registered as a Professional Construction Manager with the SACPCMP or a Professional Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist/Engineer with ECSA.

Experience:

- in the civil engineering and construction industry: 10 years (preferred)
