Who are we?

Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM] (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market.

It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans.

In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group.

The cluster focusses on retail products, as well as group schemes. What will you do?

Review alerts generated by screening tool case management system,
Assess system output of potential matches of customer data against watch lists for sanctioned, Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) & Special Interest Persons (SIP),
Evaluate dynamic risk assessment outcomes and take the relevant action to obtain approval for status changes,
Source and provide statistical data for AML/CFT returns to the regulator,
Report on party due diligence and dynamic risk assessments,
Perform Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD),
Complete suspicious activity reports (SAR) / suspicious transaction reports (STR) for submission to the Anti-Money Laundering Reporting Officer,
Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence on high-risk customers,
Determine final status of true match or false positive based on Sanlam Group standardised elimination criteria with a supporting rationale conforming to standard required for audit,
Escalate any alerts where either a final determination cannot yet be made or where any other escalation criteria are met,
Perform review of previous work done by other Analysts (Level 1) on same alert and either confirm that their findings are in accordance with yours or reject the alert due to conflicting findings,
Maintain accurate records in line with record keeping standards to ensure EDD's are correctly logged and followed up,
Perform other related duties as assigned to you.
What will make you successful in this role?

Qualification & experience
Relevant Tertiary qualification; Anti-Money Laundering and Compliance Management qualification
2 years Anti-Money Laundering experience in the Financial services industry required

Knowledge and skills
Knowledge of the Compliance monitoring and Review within the Financial series Industry.
Anti-Money Laundering experience in the Financial services industry.
Knowledge of products and services offered by various BU's will be beneficial
Conceptual reasoning; Numeracy and English Language Proficiency.
Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office (MS Excel and Word).
