    Job Title

    Geotechnical Engineer - Mine Waste

    The successful candidate will be part of our Mine Waste team, based in Midrand, on a full-time basis. We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to provide services in mining, infrastructure, property, and buildings sectors.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Manage geological and geotechnical projects, including multi-disciplinary projects, tailings facility site investigations, buildings, and infrastructure projects.
    2. Interpret geological and geotechnical data, perform analysis, and draw conclusions/recommendations.
    3. Prepare proposals, tenders, reports, and other technical deliverables.
    4. Manage, perform analysis, and conduct field observations for geological and geotechnical reporting.
    5. Exercise judgment in adapting and modifying tasks as required, collaborating with Senior Engineers.
    6. Characterise ground conditions and materials.
    7. Develop proposals, including methodology determination and cost estimation compilation.
    8. Supervise technicians and junior professional staff on site where necessary.
    9. Identify safety hazards, report incidents, and conduct work in a safe manner.
    10. Complete required inductions and pre-requisites.
    11. Perform all work satisfying company, client, and government conditions, policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
    12. Cultivate client and business development activities.
    13. Prepare presentation materials and present to clients.
    14. Participate in training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to intermediate/junior engineers.

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
    2. Post-graduate studies in Geotechnical Engineering preferable.
    3. At least 8 years' post-graduate experience.
    4. Professional registration with ECSA or similar.
    5. Consolidated experience in Geotechnical Investigations – Factual and Interpretive.
    6. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
    7. Strong written, diagrammatic, and oral communication skills.
    8. Well-developed interpersonal skills.
    9. Proven record of independent work and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
    10. Proven track record of working on large, intermediate, and small size jobs across various sectors.
    11. Solid technical knowledge and application in soil/rock mechanics.
    12. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
