Overview

The IT Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring high performance, availability, and security of systems. This role ensures all technological systems function reliably to support business operations and client services, collaborating closely with the to deliver seamless Managed IT Solutions. It plays a critical role in providing robust connectivity and infrastructure for clients in the South African market.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage systems, to support internal operations and client services.
  
• Design and deploy connectivity solutions (VPN, BIA/DIA wireless and fiber, SD-WAN) to ensure reliable performance in challenging South African environments.
  
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtime.
  
• Implement security measures to protect against data breaches and cyber threats across networks and servers.
  
• Configure hardware, software, and network components according to client and operational requirements.
  
• Manage server infrastructure for hosting and backups, ensuring stable platforms for client services like website hosting.
  
• Perform regular backups and recovery procedures for core systems.
  
• Document and maintain IT infrastructure processes and configurations.
  
• Conduct long-range strategic planning for IT infrastructure to support scalable client solutions.
  
• Provide technical support and resolve complex infrastructure issues for internal teams and clients.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of network management (LAN/WAN), system administration, and connectivity solutions (VPN, SD-WAN).
  
• Proficiency in configuring and maintaining network systems, including wireless and fiber technologies.
  
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  
• Expertise in cybersecurity fundamentals and implementation of security protocols.
  
• Technical problem-solving abilities for complex infrastructure challenges.
  
• Knowledge of cloud deployment strategies and hosting environments.
  
• Scripting language proficiency (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
  
• Project management skills for coordinating IT infrastructure projects.
  
• Documentation skills for maintaining system configurations and processes.

Requirements

Requirements: Education, Training, and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, or cloud certifications) are advantageous.
  
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT systems administration, networks, or a similar role.
  
• Proven experience ensuring reliable connectivity in challenging environments.
  
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
  
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  
• Willingness to work on a flexible schedule as required.
  
• Experience working in diverse, cross-functional teams.
