    Business Segment: Corporate & Investment Banking

    Located in Johannesburg, this role assesses and manages the Equity and Equity Finance book of CIB, playing a key role in valuation and reporting of other equity exposures across the Standard Bank Group.

    About This Role

    The successful incumbent will play a critical part in risk-assessing and mitigating, originating, managing and reporting Equity and Equity Finance transactions originated by the Structured Capital (SC) team, the Coverage team or Equity Capital Markets (ECM) team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide specialist Equity Risk origination services to clients through the Specialized Front Office and Originating team.
    • Assess or prepare formal Equity Applications.
    • Develop strong relationships with relevant stakeholders and communicate effectively.
    • Provide independent Risk oversight for investment carrying values.
    • Manage Equity and Equity Finance portfolios over their respective tenors.

    Requirements

    A degree in Commerce, Finance and/or Engineering is required. Credit/Risk Management Qualifications such as FRM/PRM are highly preferred.

    The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in a Risk Management function, preferably in Corporate & Investment Banking private equity. Experience in Investment Banking, particularly in structured transactions, mergers & acquisitions and project finance deals, is also desirable.

    Familiarity with company financials, including balance sheets and cash flow projections, is essential.
