    Role Purpose?

    The purpose of the Data Governance Analyst II role is to ensure that efficient and cost-effective data solutions and processes are in place to address current to long term (> 1 year) business data needs/requirements. Data-led business decisions in this space will come to fruition within 1-3 years. The role strategises and facilitates effective and competitive business processes by eliciting, analysing, validating and documenting business organisational and/or operational requirements, providing a cost benefit analysis, alternatives and recommendations. This Data Governance Analyst II plays an instrumental role across business and delivery teams to ensure that data solutions are delivered according to the business requirements considering cost, user and organisation benefit. The nature of projects in this role are generally across domains, high profile and complex in nature demanding expert business, data process and recommendations.

  • Design, develop and deploy data policies, guidelines, standards and processes for protection to ensure they enforced for data assets within the organisation.
  • Ensure protection of data across the organisation in line with the Data Classifications and to ensure continued improvement of data quality and strict adherence to the agreed access and classification processes.
  • Review policies, processes and standards for data protection, retention and archiving.
  • Monitor data sharing and processing in accordance with data legislation.
  • Monitor and record data privacy requests including the right to be forgotten, delete my data and data breaches.
  • Review data policies, guidelines and processes for the quality of data and ensure that these are enforced in the data life cycle.
  • Advocate for a single view of master data by encouraging the reduction of multiple points of entry.
  • Mentor and perform peer reviews for team members.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Informatics or a related technical field – (essential).
  • However, work experience will be of equal importance.
  • Experience
  • +5 years' experience in a senior data analyst or equivalent role, with demonstrable knowledge and experience in data quality management of master, reference, and transactional data, with significant influence on the overall direction of data governance – (essential).
  • Previous experience working with SAP Information Steward – (essential).
  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge of best practices in data governance – (essential).
  • Strong data processing experience and background – (essential).
  • Intermediate knowledge in programming languages, including Structured Query Language (SQL) – (essential).
  • Strong MS Excel skills or a similar tool for data analysis – (essential).
  • Exposure to and understanding of business analysis – (desired).
