    KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS

    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of marine products to ensure safe navigation and handling of all types of marine claims.
    • Nurture strong relationships with brokers, surveyors, and external service providers.
    • Verify premium payments and outstanding amounts with credit control.
    • Demonstrate a solid grasp of claim documents and policy contractual agreements.
    • Gain a thorough understanding of Incoterms and Institute Cargo Clauses.
    • Provide timely risk management insights to the Marine Claims Manager, Relationship Managers, and Underwriters.
    • Collaborate with international and local reinsurers.
    • Pursue third-party recoveries where prospects exist.
    • Monitor diary follow-ups for recoveries.
    • Work within a paperless environment, ensuring efficient filing and archiving.
    • Offer general assistance and support to the claims team.
    • Contribute to technology enhancements by improving data capture and recorded data sources, facilitating better reporting and minimizing costs.
    • Mentor young team members interested in marine insurance.
    • Authorize mandated payments (local and foreign exchange).
    • Perform client checks within POPI parameters, including sanction and bridge checks.
    • Build strong professional relationships with brokers, administrators, underwriting, and other stakeholders involved in the claims process.
    • Deliver exceptional professional service to internal and external parties.
    • Support audits by submitting files, ensuring seamless audit processes.
    • Report claims exceeding R1 million to Management and R2 million to the Special Liability Unit.

    REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Matric/Grade 12 qualification.
    • At least 5 years of experience in marine insurance claims.
    • A basic understanding of the claims process.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong technical and analytical abilities.
    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
