**Job Description

  • As the Safety Advisor Contractor your responsibilities will include**:
  • Carries out a legal function as a Safety Contractor for the designated area of responsibility.
  • Lead and participate in Site Safety inspections where contractor work is concerned.
  • Coordinate and participate in safety audits to ensure adherence to safety guidelines by
- contractors at AAP operations.

  • Compile the annual Safety Improvement Plan ensuring plans are in place for contractors.
  • Coordinate and participate in Risk-Assessments for contractor work at Operations.
  • Develop a schedule and conduct audits and inspections/ PTOs.
  • Supervise Safety Contractors in line with safety oversight and compliance verification.
  • Ensure Contractors work according to AA safety standards by providing safety oversight on
- contractor activities.

  • Identify & evaluate best practices in
- & outside the industry.

  • Provide input on appropriate safety KPI thresholds and targets.
  • Communicate safety related expectations and responsibilities by contractors.
  • Set up a process to ensure that safety procedures are reviewed, improved and communicated.
  • Hold individuals to account in line with their role authority and accountability structures
  • Ensure that systems, symbols and behaviours reinforce desired culture and align with Anglo American values

This role is in the Safety Department at a Band 6 level reporting to Site Safety Manager
**Qualifications

  • You will need the following**:
  • Tertiary diploma/degree (M+3) in Safety Health and Risk Control (NADSAM)

The following are advantageous

  • Quality Assurance
  • Project management
  • SAMTRAC


  • ISO 45 00

  • Courses in Safety, health, risk management systems

Experience

  • 5 years' experience within Safety /Health/ Risk/ Environmental in Mining/ Process environment

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Computer literate (MS Power point, Word, Excel, Access and Projects)
  • AFRAD (Accredited Facilitators Risk Assessment Diploma) Advantageous
  • Train the Trainer
  • Auditors courses for Safety and Risk Control management
  • Risk Assessment Techniques: (SWIFT, HAZOP and FMECA)
  • Risk impact assessment
  • Accident investigation (AICAT, RCAT or SCAT)
  • Basic emergency management response
  • Behaviour Based Safety
